Student Services
Welcome to Calumet School District 132's Student Support Services Homepage for Special Support Services
The Vision of the Office of Special Education Services is for students with disabilities to receive an exceptional education that will allow them to achieve their highest educational level and reach their greatest potential as caring, responsible, and independent citizens.
We are dedicated to providing educational opportunities that will meet the individual needs of all students with disabilities.
We strive to find, evaluate, and teach every student found to have a disability while creating an environment enabling them to learn in their least restrictive environment and providing them with free appropriate education. Additionally, any students with disabilities who do not qualify for an individualized education program, as required by the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and implementing provisions of the School Code, may qualify for services under Section 504 of the federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973 if the child (i) has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, (ii) has a record of a physical or mental impairment, or (iii) is regarded as having a physical or mental impairment.
