Bilingual Education

The Bilingual Education department welcomes you to our website.

We are excited that we have a connection where you can get the information you need about services offered through the department.  Please check our site frequently as information is updated weekly.

Types of programs offered through the Bilingual Education department are:  Transitional Bilingual Program, Transitional Program of Instruction, English as a Second Language, and Part-time Bilingual Program.

For adults: GED and ESL classes are offered.  Call for schedules.

All students in the bilingual program take the ACCESS test, a state mandated assessment, in January/February each year.  Students must reach a proficiency level (based on the composite score) designated by the state and the school district in order to exit/transition out of the program.  Each year, in May, the Bilingual Education Director and Bilingual Committee review ACCESS scores and create a list of those students qualifying to transition out of the program.  This list is given to principals so they can develop schedules for the following school term.  Once transitioned out of the program students are monitored for a minimum of two years in order to make sure they are achieving on levels appropriate for them.

Parent meetings are held at least four times per year, each quarter.  These meetings inform parents of what is happening in the Bilingual department, changes that come from the state, rules and regulations, parent rights, program information, and workshops available to parents.

If you have questions, concerns, or comments please do not hesitate to contact the Bilingual Education Director.
